Baldwin was once considered one of the premier American built pianos – this Classic used grand piano is no exception.

It is the perfect size for any home with a room that just won’t hold a full grand, but with a richer sound than other pianos this size. At this time, the company was carefully choosing materials for performance and uniformity, including high grade all wood action parts for a more responsive touch.

It features soft, sustain, and full sostenuto pedals, full length keys, and a solid spruce soundboard.

Priced at a fraction of the off-brands like Petrof, Bohemia, and Estonia pianos, you can be confident in this quality piano.

Who is Baldwin? (a short manufacturer history)

It was from teaching the piano that Dwight Hamilton Baldwin found himself to eventually become a piano dealer in Cincinnati in 1862. By the 1890’s, D H Baldwin & Company was the largest dealer in the Midwest.

Like most piano builders in the 1920’s, Baldwin began building player pianos. During World War II, Baldwin piano factories made wood airplane components to support the war effort. They owned the C Bechstein German piano company from 1963 until 1986. Throughout their history, they have built pianos in Ohio, Arkansas, and Mississippi and, most recently, in China. The company has also owned Burns of London and Gretsch guitars in the past and by the early 1980’s owned hundreds of financial services firms including savings and loans and investment firms. By the early 1980’s pianos were less than 5% of the company’s income and they filed for bankruptcy in 1983. The company was purchased out of bankruptcy by management.

In 2001, Gibson Guitar Corporation bought the company, later closing all US piano building and moving production to Zhongshan and Dongbei, China.
