In an age of mass produced new pianos with plastic parts, this American built Wurlitzer used pianos like this offer great value. Built by craftsman using quality woods – this instrument was incredibly well maintained and is in remarkable condition.
With a warm tone and clear, singing high notes, this is the perfect piano for someone with a smaller room or just looking for an instrument that will not overpower an open space. It’s copper wound bass strings, solid spruce soundboard, full length keys, and a strong frame are all indications of a piano that was built to last.
The tone is especially rich, inspiring the player in a way that a lower quality electronic or digital piano just can’t. If you’re thinking of playing or have a student who is excited to learn the piano, be sure to put this one on your short list!
Wurlitzer New and Used Pianos
Founded in Cincinnati in 1853 by Rudolph Wurlitzer – a German immigrant – the company started building pianos in 1880. They were also well known for making other instruments – including organs and, of course, jukeboxes – for decades. Eventually, the company moved to New York as sales improved. In 1955, Wurlitzer invented the electric piano, which they produced until the early 1980’s.
Most of the Wurltizer used pianos you find today were built in the US, although the brand name is now owned by the Gibson Guitar Company and the pianos are manufacturers in China.
Wurlitzer used pianos like this one are a great alternative to new or used pianos by brands like Yamaha, Kawai, Ritmuller, Hailun, or Brodmann. This model is available for less than half the price of the similar Yamaha P22 ($7,199) and still far less than their lower end model Yamaha B2 ($6,419) and has all wood action parts. Even if you’re a really good negotiator and can get a lower piano price, would it be worth the effort for a lower quality piano?
